天然玻璃翠观音吊坠(收于2018年)玻璃翠,化学成分为二氧化硅; 质地通透,肉眼下几乎无杂质,颜色鲜艳而均匀。因其具有鲜艳的绿色和较高的透明度,而被称作"冰翠"。其成因很多:比如岩浆喷出成因、陨石成因等。1844年,达尔文在澳大利亚得到一块火山喷发形成的喷出物,后世称之为达尔文玻璃。18世纪时有人认为它们是史前人类制造的玻璃遗迹,后来又有人猜测它们是雷电的产物。科学家奥基夫认为是3400万年前月球上的一次火山爆发,飞溅出许多碎石,其中部分碎石跌下地球而形成的。玻璃翠在地球上并非随意散布,而是有"选择性"的,主要集中在南北纬50度之间的部分地区。
